Terms and Conditions

Welcome to DigiStart, a Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) platform for Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners. Please read these terms carefully before creating your account. By registering, you confirm that you understand and accept them.

1 Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using DigiStart, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and our Data Privacy practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not register or use the platform.

2 About DigiStart

DigiStart provides computer-assisted lessons, activities, and quizzes to help ALS learners build computer and digital skills, such as using word processing, spreadsheet, and internet applications. DigiStart is a learning support tool. It does not replace your ALS learning facilitator, your ALS learning center, or the official ALS Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) assessment.

3 Eligibility and Your Account

DigiStart is intended for enrolled or prospective ALS learners and their authorized facilitators.
If you are under 18, you should register with the knowledge and consent of your parent, guardian, or ALS facilitator.
Provide accurate and complete information, including your real name and a valid email address.
Keep your username and password confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
One person, one account. Do not share your account or use someone else's.
Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4 Learner Conduct

To keep DigiStart a safe and respectful place to learn, you agree not to:

Cheat, share quiz answers, or use another person's account to complete activities.
Attempt to hack, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the system, other accounts, or data.
Upload or share content that is unlawful, harmful, offensive, or violates the rights of others.
Harass, bully, or discriminate against other learners, facilitators, or administrators.
Copy, resell, or distribute DigiStart lessons or materials without permission.

5 Lessons, Activities, and Progress

Your lesson progress, activity results, and quiz scores are recorded so you and your facilitator can track your learning. These records are for learning support and monitoring only. They are not official ALS A&E results or a certificate of completion unless your ALS learning center states otherwise.

6 Intellectual Property

All lessons, text, images, logos, and software that make up DigiStart belong to its developers and/or their respective owners. You may use them for your personal learning only. You keep ownership of any work you create, but you allow DigiStart to store it so that your facilitator can review your progress.

7 Data Privacy

We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

What we collect: your username, full name, email address, gender, encrypted password, and your learning activity (lessons completed, scores, and login history).
Why we collect it: to create and secure your account, deliver lessons, track your progress, and let authorized facilitators or administrators support your learning.
Who can see it: only you and authorized DigiStart administrators and ALS facilitators. We do not sell your information or share it with third parties, except when required by law.
How we protect it: passwords are stored in encrypted form and access to records is limited to authorized personnel.
Your rights: you may ask to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and you may object to its processing, as provided by law.
Retention: we keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law.

8 Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or remove an account that violates these terms, puts other users or the system at risk, or has been inactive for a long period. You may also request to close your account at any time by contacting us.

9 Availability and Limitation of Liability

We work to keep DigiStart available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that it is free from errors. DigiStart may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. To the extent allowed by law, DigiStart and its developers are not liable for losses arising from the use of, or inability to use, the platform.

10 Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use DigiStart after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
